Kathy is creating a moment of pure joy for children in foster care. A science teacher who lost her own parents at a young age, she understands how heavy life can feel for kids navigating uncertainty and loss. Living in a state with one of the highest numbers of children in foster care, she wants to use the $500 to take 10 kids to a local water park built in a natural quarry. There, they’ll spend the day climbing, jumping, laughing - and even getting “blobbed” into the air - before finishing with ice cream together. It’s a simple idea, but a powerful one: giving kids who’ve been through a lot an afternoon where they can feel carefree, seen, and full of smiles.
