As a passionate and innovative counsellor, Tyra is driven to transform kindness into an actionable community skill. With one of the highest rates of GBV in the world, Tyra sees the urgent need for compassion to be taught and multiplied within her community. With $500, Tyra will train peer counsellors from diverse backgrounds in trauma-informed listening and psychological first aid, enabling them to act as trusted first responders. The funds will facilitate five training sessions for 30 people each and provide 150 GBV support packs, including pepper spray and essential emergency information. Tyra’s vision is simple yet revolutionary: when kindness spreads from person to person, it creates communities where survivors receive empathy rather than indifference.
