Michael is helping hospital patients and their families feel seen. A retired school teacher of 32 years, he now spends his time volunteering at his local hospital, supporting patients through what can often be anxious and uncertain moments. Noticing how many people arrive feeling nervous, alone, or overwhelmed - especially children - Michael created two simple but powerful acts of kindness. “Posies for Patients” sees him gift small handmade flower arrangements to patients, often transforming their day in an instant. And “Teddys for Toddlers” brings comfort to children in waiting rooms, surprising them with a teddy bear when they need it most. With the $500, Michael will continue and expand these efforts - funding the materials needed to keep showing up with small, thoughtful gestures that ease fear, spark connection, and remind people they’re not alone.
