As someone who has lived with this condition her whole life, Pendo knows firsthand the challenges and stigma tied to it. Despite experiencing severe pain and limited access to medications, she's determined to change the narrative and fight for better care for kids like her. With $500, Pendo plans to cover a year’s worth of medical insurance for 5-8 children, ensuring their access to essential sickle cell treatments. She’ll also organize a blood donation campaign to collect 50 liters of blood and educate the community about the disease to dismantle harmful myths. Pendo is turning her own battles into powerful advocacy to uplift “sickle cell warriors” and transform lives.
