A photographer and storyteller, Natalie balances raising her children with building work rooted in her own experience of loss after her husband died from cancer. Alongside three other women, she has spent the past year and a half creating a space for those navigating grief and healing after cancer, combining art, conversation and care. She is using the $500 to host an intimate weekend gathering at her home in Cape Town, set in the garden her husband once grew. Through shared meals, gentle workshops, photography and storytelling, participants will be invited to reflect, connect and feel less alone. With a focus on inclusion, the funds will also ensure those who couldn’t otherwise attend are able to be part of it - creating a space where grief is held openly, and where its impact can ripple far beyond the weekend itself.
