As a medical student at KCMC university, Aselina has seen firsthand the malnutrition challenges orphaned children face in this fertile "breadbasket." With $500, she will provide 25 vulnerable families led by elderly grandmothers or children with biofortified iron-rich bean seeds and Vitamin A-enriched potato vines, along with essential gardening tools. By working with local agricultural experts, Aselina aims to transform these households' small gardens into sustainable sources of nutrition and income. This project doesn't just fill stomachs today; it sustains futures for tomorrow.
