As a medical technician deeply intertwined with vulnerable communities and a music lover at heart, she observes the disconnect between the generations despite the wealth of wisdom held by elders and the eager curiosity of the young. With $500, Jamida will create Borrowed Grandparents, a simple yet profound gathering that invites elderly locals to share their everyday expertise like sewing a button or making soup. Young adults and teens will join for free, with no distractions of social media or commercialization, to learn from their elders and write heartfelt notes of gratitude. This initiative will fund transport, materials, refreshments, and small thank-you gifts for the elders. Jamida’s vision is to stitch together the torn fabric of generational understanding and affirm that everyone, young or old, holds value.
