As a full-time student and a part-time social butterfly, Nabil thrives on good conversation and believes life's best lessons are taught outside the classroom. With the $500 grant, Nabil will build and install bio-sand water filters for 15–20 households in areas where water is unreliable. Each filter costs $15–20 to make, using locally sourced materials like gravel, sand, and charcoal. Children aged 10 and above become the caretakers of these filters, learning to maintain them and understanding the science behind them. Families will track how much money they save on charcoal and the decrease in water-borne illnesses. The real magic happens when clean water flows from muddy sources under the watchful eyes of their neighbors. This initiative empowers families to cut household costs while building community health from the inside out.
