A former cabinetmaker turned musician, she still works closely with a community of carpenters who practise rare and endangered woodworking techniques - including squaring wood with an axe, a method used in the restoration of Notre-Dame Cathedral. With the $500, Lucie will host a hands-on workshop for young people in a rural village in the Cantal region of France, teaching them these skills as they work together to build a large wooden raft. The project will culminate in setting sail together on Lake Granval - turning heritage, learning, and collaboration into a shared experience that connects generations through craft and adventure.
