Esther is giving her community the tools to talk about life and death. A creative community facilitator, Esther creates spaces where people can explore what it means to live in the light of mortality. Through her project This Mortal Life, she hosts seasonal gatherings that bring people together over food, creativity and conversation - gently opening up topics many find hard to approach. She is using the $500 to run ‘Memento Makers’ workshops in the lead up to Samhain, inviting participants to explore remembrance, legacy and loss through art. From collage pieces to memory boxes, each creation becomes a personal reflection and a starting point for deeper conversations. By funding materials and space, Esther is helping her community build confidence, connection and openness around death - and in doing so, showing how acknowledging it can make life feel richer.
